Homework Assignment 6
1.) Planning – Find a suitable location to build the house. Buy the lot. Purchase blueprints or design your own blueprints.
2.) Analysis – Add up the costs involved in building the house. Be sure to include small, easily-to-forget things like the cost of doorknobs and other hardware. Analyze the total amount and compare it with your current finances to be sure you can actually afford to build the house.
3.) Design – If the cost is going to be too high, pick new, smaller blueprints or edit your own blueprints to fit your budget. Finalize the plans and call a contractor.
4.) Development – Talk with your contractor to decide who will do what in the process of building the house. Be sure you have a reliable person for each part of building the house. Make sure you don’t have a lazy plumber!
5.) Testing – Get a building permit so that you may legally begin building your house. In most cities, you must take a copy of the building plans to city hall so that they may approve the plans. They may have a few rules that you have to follow such as having the soil tested prior to breaking ground for the house.
6.) Implementation – Start building the house! This is the long part, but in the end, it will be worth it.
7.) Maintenance – Frequently visit your new house while it is still being built so that you can make sure all the parties involved in building the house are doing their part correctly. You don’t want that lazy plumber sitting back eating potato chips on your time and money!

I enjoy visiting gwlittle.com.
G. W. Little is small company that sells products marketed to owners of small lap dogs. I visit their website often because entice me by frequently emailing me coupons! I also visit the website because I have a small dog that I love to shop for and they have really cute stuff. I’ve bought lots of stuff from G.W. Little. They have great customer service.
I dislike visiting is att.com.
Well, we all know what type of company ATT is. I used to go to this website frequently before I got my iPhone. I was always looking for the newest, best smartphone! I have done business through this website several times.
“7C Framework”
1.) Context
gwlittle – This website has a soft pink background and is accented with rose pink and hot pink. It has lots of pictures of cute puppies on a video on the home page. There is an easily accessible menu to the left side that slides out. It’s very easy to navigate and they have a pink “sniff” bar (search bar, in doggy talk!) This website is never slow. It seems very well designed. (I couldn’t find in the slides about the functional, aesthetic, or integrated part for either one of the websites.)
att.com – This website has a very cold, business-like feel. The homepage isn’t very welcoming and the pictures take forever to load. It’s very confusing when you just want to search for cell phones because there is not a button that just says “cell phones.”
2.) Content
gwlittle.com – The subject matter presented on this website is small dog products. The homepage has a slideshow of new or hot products, contact info, and a menu, among other small things. This website is always timely.
att.com – The subject matter presented on this website is electronic communication devices, and TVs. On the homepage, there is a slideshow of three different advertisements. They take a long time to change to the next advertisement. They also show some price promotions.
3.) Community
gwlittle.com – I haven’t noticed any way for customers to contact each other on this website. They have a page for testimonials and product reviews, though.
att.com - I haven’t noticed a online community for att customers, either, but then again, even if they had one, I probably wouldn’t be able to find it due to their weird website.
4.) Customization
gwlittle.com – This site has an online “personal shopper” based on your interests and previous purchases. You can subscribe to their “Deal of the Day” coupon emails. You can even create an account where you can put in your dog’s birthday!
att.com – Of course you can sign into your wireless account, where it saves your information and you can add or remove services or buy phones, but that’s about as far as it goes.
5.) Communication
gwlittle.com – I think this website is mostly broad-cast style.
att.com - I would call this website broad-cast style also.
6.) Connection
gwlitte.com – This website doesn’t have many link s to other sites. I think they are just trying to promote their site.
att.com - This website doesn’t have any links to other sites.
7.) Commerce
gwlittle.com – Of course this site has the ability to make financial transactions!
att.com – Yes, this site, too, has the ability to make (many) financial transactions.

Definition of a "Turing Test"
I forgot to post the definition of a "turing test".
The Turing test is a proposal for a test of a machine's ability to demonstrate intelligence.
"Eliza" demonstrated zero intelligence!!

My Chat With a Very Uninteresting Chatterbot
I chatted with a Chatterbot who was named Eliza. She didn't have an avatar or a voice. It was a very basic program. The url was http://www-ai.ijs.si/eliza-cgi-bin/eliza_script. This is the transcript of our very boring conversation.
ELIZA - a friend you could never have before
Eliza: Hello. I am ELIZA. How can I help you?
You: Hi. I am Jessica.
Eliza: How long have you been jessica?
You: About 19 years now
Eliza: Please go on.
You: What do you want to know?
Eliza: Does that question interest you?
You: Not necessarily. It was too open ended.
Eliza: Please go on.
You: Okay.
Eliza: Please go on.
You: How old are you?
Eliza: Does that question interest you?
You: Yes
Eliza: You are sure?
You: I guess so
Eliza: Can you elaborate on that?
You: I am very sure
Eliza: How long have you been very sure?
You: ABout 3 minutes
Eliza: Please go on.
You: You are very boring. Goodbye.
Eliza: Does it please you to believe I am very boring goodbye?
You: When he doesn't hear what I say I lose it
Eliza: You are being a bit negative.
You: Bye
Eliza: Please go on.
This chatterbot definitely did not pass the tuning test. I asked my roommate if this looked like a conversation with a real person and of course she said no, just as anybody would. Haha. It seemed all "Eliza" liked to say was "Please go on."

Homework Assignment 3
After researching CRM, I found three popular companies that have a CRM system in use; Blue Cross Blue Shield, American Airlines, and IBM.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Blue Cross Blue Shield worked with Pegasystems to organize and implement a CRM system to provide accurate information via one application that could do several functions, as opposed to several, disconnected information centers. BCBS saw the time it took to train new employees diminish significantly because of less time spent teaching system navigation - only having to teach them to navigate one or two screens instead of six or eight - and more time focusing on quality customer-service interactions. Employees now have more time to focus on customers instead of searching for information from several sources. The CRM solution also allows them to automate processes such as updating an address or requesting a member card, saving company time. Not only that, but the amount of technical support now needed to maintain the system is decreased.
America OnLine
America Online, the world's largest Internet Service Provider, turned to SalesForce.com to help it manage its extensive customer base and, on the IT end, their customer - server interactions. AOL also had an increasingly complex sales and marketing process that involved multiple external partners, and managing information across multiple groups and contracts. SalesForce.com provided AOL with a CRM solution that directs customers and employees through the fastest and most efficient channels when seeking information or solutions, increasing productivity for the entire organization.
IBM
As a longstanding technology organization, IBM suffered from too many departments running on different platforms and applications that were no longer compatible, as some upgraded while others didn't and new systems were introduced. IBM was already using Sieble's CRM solution for it's call centers and technical support, so when IBM needed help with it's sales and marketing, they turned to Siebel once again to create a single integrated, company-wide CRM solution platform that supports IBM sales and marketing worldwide by providing a single source for customer and marketplace data, in several different languages and currencies.

I didn't find too many complete failures with companies using a CRM system. I think that MSU would definitely benefit from using a CRM system because many colleges already have this type of system in place and are reaping the benefits. As a student, one way I could benefit from this is by becoming more involved with MSU as a whole. MSU could easily promote new classes and campus events to me using a CRM system; thus involving me more with MSU.
